The day the lambs came to school

Mrs. McNamara and her husband bought their lambs to school a couple of weeks.

Oreti were able to go and feed them and ask questions. We then did some writing about them

Calendar Information

Here is the calendar information for purchasing 😄

We are going to Murihiku Marae as part of our EOTC week - this visit will be on the 3rd of November and we are sending 2 groups. 1 group will go from 9.30 until 11.30 and the second group will go from 12.30 until 2.30. We would love some helpers to come along and experience this with us! If you would like to help please let Lyn know as soon as possible.

Miss Smith will be starting her full control in Room Oreti next week and will be responsible for the teaching in the classroom. Any questions please get in touch with Lyn. :)

Keeping ourselves Safe

As part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe we worked on feelings and situations that would make us feel a certain way. Everybody worked well in their small groups and each group had some great points and discussions about situations and feelings.

Creating

Today there was some serious creating happening in Oreti. Blocks were everywhere and there was lots of conversations about what to create and how to do it. 😀

What would we do if we went to the Olympics?

If I went to the Olympics I would compete in the Archery because I would love to touch the bow and arrow.

If I went to the Olympics I would play Archery because I like the look of it. I will need a good coach and a few days of practice as well as a good bow and arrow.

Statistical Investigation

We have been working on statistics in Oreti. Today we posed some questions and set about collecting our data to help us put into graphs.

Coding time

We have been working on coding this week using the app called Lightbot.  We are in the beginning stages of coding but so far it has been a hit! There's lots of great conversation and sharing happening. ☺

The Dreamweaver visits

Today the Dreamweaver came to Tisbury School to tell us some stories. We heard some fantastic stories from all over the world!

Fractions

Mrs Ferris introduced us to a new game today.  The game is called Fraction Fortress. This is a great game and helps students build an understanding of the variety of fractions that can be used to make a whole. Jett and Nikora worked really hard to identify which fractions would work and there was a lot of great conversation happening!

Getwise

Gary from ASB come to visit this week.  He talked to us about money and the importance of looking after our money. Gary told us about saving some and spending some, wants and needs and what to do if we find money or get an eftpos card.

Dress up day

The era we are working in is between 1914 and 1940. We all look awesome and so much effort has gone in to our outfits!

Freddy's Visit

Today Scott and Donna bought their 1920's Ford into school. We were able to have a look at it and get into the back. It was awesome!  Thank you Donna and Scott for bringing it in.

Working with numbers

Blake and Xanthe did some fantastic work with numbers today. Blake was a great helper and explained different maths terms to Xanthe. Ka pai! Keep up the hard work. ☺

Ordering our day

Blake and Michelle have worked hard to order the day. There was lots of great discussion about what happens and when. Great work team!

Oral language

We have been working really hard on developing our oral language skills. This includes speaking clearly, asking good questions and looking at the person who is speaking. We are given a new topic each day and it is really interesting to hear all the different ideas.

Dress up day

Here is our classroom all dressed up as animals as part of the fundraiser for the SPCA.

Racing Car

Today's Brodie's Mum and Dad bought in their racing car to show the school. It is very cool!
