Dress up day

Here is our classroom all dressed up as animals as part of the fundraiser for the SPCA.

Racing Car

Today's Brodie's Mum and Dad bought in their racing car to show the school. It is very cool! 

Firewise

On Wednesday some firemen came to talk to us (a follow on visit) about fire safety. We knew the answers to lots of questions and know exactly what to do if there is a fire. The firemen stressed these things- checking smoke alarm batteries, knowing our addresses and having a meeting place. ☺

What's the Plan Stan?

Jayne from Civil Defence Southland bought the earthquake simulator to school today. We discussed what we needed to do in an earthquake.  It's so important that we Stop, Cover and Hold when there is an earthquake.  On the simulator we practised doing this.
We also learnt that parents/caregivers can text 219 and then will be hooked up to the Civil Defence test service if there is an emergency. Check out www.civildefencesouthland.govt

Working together

Kyle and Nikora worked together to create this fantastic robot from some materials in the classroom.  They had to listen to each others ideas and said the trickiest part was the body. Well done to both boys for working together and persevering when it got tricky!!!
